Pumpkin Patch

We recently took our annual pumpkin patch trip along with Julie and her kids and Nancy to The Farm in Snohomish. It was our third trip out there and the most fun by far now that Wyatt is a bit older. Aside from a huge selection of pumpkins, The Farm offers hayrides, a cow train, a petting zoo and lots of great food.

Wyatt was immediately drawn to the pumpkins after we have spent the last few weeks reading Biscuit Visits the Pumpkin Patch and wanted to examine everything. He touched each pumpkin, patted it a few times and would try to rub the dirt off. Before we knew it he would try to climb on top of the pumpkins and ride it like a rocking horse. It was too funny until he took a header off of one of the pumpkins and got a face full of those little prickly thorns on the pumpkin vines.

The kids each picked out a pumpkin and then headed over to the cow train. The kids each sat in a 50-gallon barrel that had been converted into a train car and painted like a cow. Then a gigantic tractor pulled the kids around the farm for a tour. Wyatt sat in Noah's lap and all the kids had a great time.

Next, we headed over to see the animals and Wyatt got to see and touch a lot of the animals he has been reading about at home. He saw sheep, a goat, pigs, a bull, a donkey, and chickens, to name a few. I was the proudest mom in the place when Wyatt pointed at the chickens and said "Bach-bach". Good job son!! We finished off the trip with carmel apples for the older kids and cider for the adults.

Later, we spent the evening at Julie's house celebrating Noah's 11th birthday. We had homemade soup and cake and the kids played together. Wyatt's favorite toy of his cousins was the drum set and he had a ball when Julie brought out the Karaoke microphone. Wyatt loves the sound of his own voice.
