Wyatt is developing more of a personality each day and constantly has Ross and I laughing hysterically. One of his newest antics is to smack his lips between every bite of food and to say "Mmm" and "Mmm, Mmm" with a tone of complete joy over his sense of taste.
That is until he gets a little of taste of something he doesn't like. Then he locks his lips together and won't budge. At first I would alternate between a food he liked and a food he didn't but he has finally caught on and knows what food is coming from each container. If he sees the spoon go toward something sweet, his mouth flies wide open. If he sees me try to sneak in some oatmeal, his mouth slams shut and he just gives me this look like "Nice try mom but I wasn't born yesterday. Who do you think you're fooling? Bring on the good stuff!"My next plan of attack was to sing songs to distract him or make him laugh but that has only led to his mastery of laughter with his mouth closed. He knows that if I see any breech in his security system that the food is going in. What a smart boy!
Wyatt is also finding new ways of entertaining himself and anything can be a new toy. His new favorite things are watching the laundry on spin cycle, sucking on his own mini flashlight (which I like to turn on so his cheeks light up) or playing with one of my old cell phones.
I think his favorite new toy, however, is the ball end of the turkey baster. It's squishy, smells rubbery and he can make strange sounds with it if he talks into it or blows air into it. His genuine curiosity is saving us tons of money on conventional toys and we hope to milk this as long as possible.
