Instead of using foam stickers to turn our pumpkins into
jack o'lanterns, we decided the kids were big enough to carve their pumpkins
this year. They were shocked at the amount of seeds inside the pumpkins and
weren't thrilled about the prospect of putting their hands into the sticky, wet
insides. With a lot of help from Ross and I we cleaned the pumpkins out and
helped the kids carve a Halloween template.
Wyatt picked a design featuring a raven sitting on a
headstone amidst a graveyard. He was able to do some of the pumpkin cutting
using a mini saw and exceeded our expectations.
Sam picked a phantom face, which he said was not scary
because he was really brave. Sammy needed more help by mostly because he picked
the most intricate and difficult template in the book. While he waited for me
to finish carving, he decorated another pumpkin with Dracula face stickers. DO
you think he was proud of himself or what?
We lit the pumpkins and placed them next to the fireplace at
nightfall and the boys were thrilled. We cannot wait for the big night in two
days!
