Wyatt's "Special" Day

Since Wyatt won't turn 5 until well into summer, his preschool has a "Special" Day for him where he could be sang to and enjoy cupcakes with his classmates. Ross, Sam and I headed over to school for the celebration and Wyatt was just thrilled to have a 'just because' party in his honor.

Mother's Day Tea

Wyatt's preschool put on a Mother's Day Tea and it was so sweet! Wyatt met me at the back door and immediately took my hand and led me around the room to share how the kids had prepared for the big day.

The mothers and children made an art project together, creating a lily out of the child's hand print. Wyatt insisted on doing all of the cutting himself. :)

Then he showed me the butterflies the class had raised from caterpillars.

Finally, the kids serenaded us with "Oh, How I Love You, Mommy" and "I'm A Little Tea Pot", and presented us with handmade cards and vases decorated with the child's fingerprints to make flowers. It was such a special day!

Baseball

Wyatt played another baseball game and it was the perfect balance of sport, innocence and cuteness. Wyatt hit the ball well and made a fielding play and throw to first. He also spent an inning doing somersaults and pirouettes at shortstop, which I think was a creative version of the pee-pee dance.

Cedar River Watershed

Wyatt's preschool class took a field trip to the Cedar River Watershed, which is just up the road from our house. The kids learned about the water cycle and had a great time with the hands on displays that used ping pong balls and air pressurized tubes to demonstrate water run off.

Wyatt helped Sam look through this view finder. He is such a sweet big brother!

Miss Amy showed Sammy this toilet display that was complete with flushing sounds (i.e. one of the most hilarious sounds ever for a 3 year old!)

Wyatt and Sam stood on this scale and then had to start pumping to finally equal the approximate amount of water they have inside their bodies.

This was one of my favorite photos of the day... can you tell which child isn't used to sitting still (and upright) while listening to the teacher?

We also went on a nature hike between the watershed and Rattlesnake Lake and the kids got to practice using binoculars, magnifying glasses, maps and compasses. Wyatt and Sam loved the experience.
