Hello Alex

We are back in town after a 10-day whirlwind trip to California to meet my nephew Alex, visit my folks and Ross' grandparents in Paradise, attend a bachelorette party in Sacramento, a bridal shower in Stockton and wedding in Carmel for Ross' baby sister Lily and her groom Ryan.

We had a great trip and it was so good to see the extended family and the new addition. We got to meet Alex on what would have been his second day of life if he had stuck to his original due date instead of arriving 8 weeks early. He was so tiny and about the size Wyatt was when he was born. Ross and I relished his smallness as we took Wyatt's teeny size for granted when we were brand new parents.

Alex is such a good baby and has 10 times the amount of hair as Wyatt. That boy's almost ready for his first haircut! Ross and I got to hold him, help with feedings and diapers and suddenly realized that our "little boy" was in fact a "big boy". Where did the time go?

Wyatt was instantly jealous of his baby cousin and tried to climb into my lap while I held the baby. We were a bit surprised by his reaction but he seemed to get over it pretty quickly and showed a real interest in his newest cousin. Alex is the first person Wyatt has met that is younger and smaller than himself and I think he got a kick out of it. Now if only we could get him to grasp that word "gentle"...
