Halloween

We had a fantastic Halloween last night! The boys were adorable in their Buzz Lightyear and Woody costumes from the movie Toy Story, Sam was able to trick-or-treat for the first time and the weather was clear and mild, which is nearly miraculous in the Northwest at the end of October.





Sam was not quite in the trick-or-treating mood as I wrestled him into this costume but once I gave up on the cowboy hat, gave him a pacifier and a glow stick the stars somehow aligned and he was ready to go. If only glow sticks could solve all of the world's problems.



We drove across town to a nice neighborhood that had both sidewalks and streetlights, luxuries not to be had in our development. Wyatt was a seasoned trick-or-treating pro and ran from house to house, even elbowing his way between teenagers to get to the front doors. Unlike the teenagers, he always remembered to say "Trick-or-treat" and "thank you" and we were quite proud of him. He also announced "Here comes Woody," as little brother approached and when Sam was too shy to step forward, Wyatt would grab an extra piece of candy and put it in Sam's pail.




Sam tried to play along and approach the first couple of doors but then refused to take part in taking candy from strangers and instead insisted to be held tightly in Ross' arms.

At the end of the night, just as we were heading back to the car, Sam regained his confidence and let Wyatt hold his hand and take him to a few doors. Sam will still uninterested in the candy but enjoyed looking at all of the Halloween decorations and kept trying to blow out all of the candles in the pumpkins.



The kids each got to have one piece of candy before bed (a Tootsie Pop for Wyatt and a KitKat for Sam) and gave a quick webcam call for Nana and Granddad so they could see their costumes. It was a great night.
