Happy 3rd Birthday Wyatt

Happy 3rd Birthday Wyatt! I can't believe how quickly you are growing up into a big boy. It makes me wish I could just slow time down to soak in more moments with you while you still need me.

So much has happened in the last year and you have grown up in so many ways. You have pretty much mastered the English language, more so than some adults I know, and you are constantly having "real" conversations with your dad and I, usually picking our brains for the ins and outs of life's workings.

You continue to be a very curious little boy and have a desire to learn about everything around you. You ask A LOT of questions and get me to ask you a lot of questions as well.

You are developing quite the imagination and are beginning to play pretend. You have started to see shapes in everyday things and point them out to me, such as a half eaten cracker that is now in the shape of a boot. You also have started to play with Playdough and use your imagination to make your own creations- your current favorite being snowmen.

You are becoming an athlete and like to throw and kick the ball around and are surprisingly coordinated at it. You like to play catch and take batting practice and can already hit line drives against live pitching.

You still love music and like to sing, play your guitar and watch music videos. You always ask me to tell you the name of the artist singing if you don't already know it and eagerly shout out the artists you do recognize- which is most of them! You also are quick to tell me if I am playing the music too loud- a favor I am sure to return to you someday.

You are a very sensitive boy who likes to please others and make people laugh. You try to figure out ways to make me happy everyday, especially during those times I am short on patients, and are quick to offer to help me with chores. You can make your bed, get dressed, put your clothes in the hamper and brush your hair. You even took it upon yourself to drag the hamper down the hallway and start loading the washing machine for me this week- fully intent on starting a load of laundry.

You love to work in the yard with your dad, whether it be raking, digging, watering or stacking fire wood. And you also love to run, climb and jump, around, on and over every tree and rock you can find. You are a little dare devil and have a quiet confidence about you that seems rare in a little guy your age.

You are smart, smart, SMART and your dad and I are constantly exchanging wide-eyed glances at the things you say and do in amazement. You don't miss a thing that is happening around you and you repeat EVERYTHING we say, even when we don't think you're listening.

You are riding your big boy bike now like a pro and are constantly reminding me to stop at the Stop signs and to watch out for cars. We went on our first official bike ride together last week down the trail to the freeway and back and you easily covered the distance and figured out how to use your brakes on the downhill to keep from riding away out of control. You yelled out "I'm a big boy! I'm a big boy" over and over and it was so precious. When we got back to the house we rode around in circles in the cul-de-sac and Samuel cheered and clapped for you from the chariot.

You are a WONDERFUL big brother and clearly love your little brother very much. The two of you never fight and even when he's pushing your buttons you always keep your cool and never strike out. You are very good about sharing your things with Sammy and when he takes a toy from you you are quick to hand him a new one before reclaiming yours so he is not left empty handed.

You are very protective of Sam and hold his hand when we go for walks, help him up and down the front stoop and help me corral him when he tries to escape the yard. You also take your role as big brother and mentor VERY seriously and try to show Sam all of the right ways to do things. You have taken a lot of pride in his successes and know you had a hand in it, especially with his walking and better use of the spoon.

You also gently reprimand him when he is being naughty and say things like "No, no, no, Sammy (coupled with a finger shake). You do not throw your food on the floor. You keep it on your tray like this."

You like to tell us you love us and frequently give us the "I love you" hand signal in sign language. You also tell Sam "goodnight" and "sweet dreams" at bedtime and give him hugs and kisses, which melts our hearts.

You gave up your beloved pacifier a few weeks ago without even a fight and have been good about not taking your brothers when you want a paci-fix.

You have NEVER hurt another person nor done anything malicious in your first three years of life and I never see that changing. You love people and people easily fall in love with you.

You are a loving, generous, funny, smart and caring little boy and the amount of joy you bring into our lives everyday could never be measured. You are such a blessing and have made my life more full and happy than I ever could have imagined possible.

I love you with everything that I have and everything that I am and I pray that you continue to thrive and learn and grow while knowing there has never been a little boy loved more on this Earth than you.

Happy Birthday baby.

Love,
Mom
