Wyatt had his first trip to the dentist office yesterday. I wasn't quite sure how much of an exam the doctor would try or how much Wyatt would cooperate. In preparation I spent a week talking with him about dentists and practicing counting his teeth. It helped that I could refer to the dentist in Finding Nemo and he seemed excited the morning of his appointment to meet Dr. Calderwood.When we walked into the office Wyatt asked the receptionist "Where is Dr. Calderwood?" She was very impressed, as were we.
When it was time for Ross and Wyatt to head back to the exam room Wyatt hopped up in the chair and eagerly opened his mouth for the doctor to see all 16 1/2 of his teeth.
When it was Ross' turn, Wyatt sat in the hygienist's chair and watched very closely. The hygienist even let him assist with the cleaning and put him in charge of the suction tool. This wasn't just a photo op for me- he did suction for the entire appointment! 
He did great and really enjoyed himself. He also liked getting a dinosaur toy out of the treasure chest ad getting a new Mater toothbrush. It shouldn't be hard to get him to go again in 6 months.
