Play Time

The boys spent yesterday morning in Wyatt's crib reading Clifford books together. Wyatt would talk about the things he recognized in the book, like the character names or actions they were doing, and then show the photo to Sam. This lasted about 10-15 minutes before the boys heard Ross come home and Wyatt bailed out of the crib and ran to meet daddy at the door.

Later in the day, I remembered having one of my favorite childhood toys stored in a closet and took it out to show the boys. It was the Merry-Go Zoo and is at least 30 years old and still works! That's some good construction. The kids really liked it, especially the pink elephant train that Wyatt quickly discovered would run along any surface, not just the train tracks.

Sam liked to put the magnetized people in his mouth and suck on them so those were quickly put out of sight but he enjoyed swiping at the train every time it made a pass by him. It reminded me of a cat batting at a ball of yarn and he was just as entertained.

We have been doing some spring cleaning the last few days in an attempt to squeeze every inch out of our storage space. Oh, what I wouldn't give for a garage!! In the process, we had a left over 70-gal. storage bin that Wyatt turned into a hideout. He would duck down in it and then shout "Wyatt... are you?", which meant, "Wyatt where are you," and he wanted us to find him.

Then I sat Sam in the bin and Wyatt pushed him up and down the hallway like it was an amusement park ride. Sam wasn't so sure about this so I put Wyatt in the bin with him and pushed both boys around the house. Who needs store bought toys?! Not my kids. This should make Christmas pretty easy this year.
