Music Man

Wyatt has always displayed a love of listening to music but now that he is a little older he is starting to participate in making his own music.

It all started when I sang "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" to Sam at the dinner table in an attempt to curb his crying and get the rest of us through the meal as quickly as possible. I was just a few words into the song before Wyatt chimed in with various words to the song like "rainbow", "high", "blue birds,". It was so cute! He sang at the top of his lungs and would you believe Sammy started laughing at his brother and we finished our meal in peace?

Last week, we visited Ross' mom and her parents who were in town visiting and as soon as we walked into her home Wyatt made a beeline for the toy guitar she showed him on our last visit. He immediately started to strum the guitar and asked her to join him by yelling "Grandma! Guitar!".

The two them then played together for the longest time and Wyatt had a huge smile on his face. He did a good job of mimicking her hand movements and strummed along as she sang. Later in the evening, Wyatt once again picked up the mini guitar and started playing and then started singing his own song.

Now Wyatt has started to sing along with the songs he recognizes on the radio and would you believe he is actually starting to figure out how to sing on beat and in tune?! We may have a budding musician on our hands.
