Woodland Park Zoo

We took the boys to the Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle today and joined our neighbors, Johnny, Sherry and Elia. The kids had a great time looking at the animals and running along the paths to the different exhibits. It was Wyatt's second trip to the zoo but his first as a walker and he got a kick out of seeing many animals we read about in his books.

Wyatt and Elia were inseparable and held hands much of the day. She even snuck a couple of kisses in there when he wasn't looking. Wyatt kept running off and Elia would scold him and say "You can't run off Wyatt. You need to hold my hand." It was very cute.

Wyatt got to ride the indoor carousel and he loved it. Ross held on to him tightly and Wyatt held on for dear life the first spin or two but by the end of the ride he was beaming and waving at Sam and I like crazy.





The kids also loved seeing animals they could identify like the elephants and monkeys. Wyatt did a great elephant impression that I couldn't get him to repeat on camera but Elia played along and made the noise for my video.



Wyatt also loved the giraffes since his very special stuffed animal he has to sleep with every night is a giraffe. I think he was surprised by their size and he kept saying "Really, really, really big giraffe."



Wyatt was also excited to see a real dragon (the Kimono Dragon) and tried to kiss him through the glass.



The penguin exhibit was a winner with the kids and Wyatt kept pointing out all of the daddy penguins because he knows the dads take care of the babies.

Little Sammy was a trooper and was content to sit in the stroller most of the day and just enjoyed the scenery. He also practiced his standing at the Australian exhibit with Emus and Wallabies.

On the way out of the zoo we picked up stuffed animals for the kids. Sam picked out a snow leopard and Wyatt wanted the penguin.

Both boys were asleep within minutes of heading home and it was a quiet drive home.

We hope to go back to the zoo with our neighbor friends again soon before the weather turns for good. We still have half of the zoo to explore.
