The boys participated in the Cinco de Mayo one mile race today at Mount Si High School and we could not have asked for better weather. Unlike the last race for St. Patrick's Day, this race was timed and trophies were given out for the top three finishers in each division so the boys had some extra motivation to run fast.
Ross and Wyatt teamed up and took off sprinting at the start. Wyatt would alternate a sprint, walk, sprint strategy throughout the race and ended up placing 5th out of 15 runners in the boys 5 and under division with a time of 11:01.
Sammy and I paired up and with the start signal he grabbed hold of my hand and never let go as we played the role of the tortoise and kept at a steady jog without stopping. His sweetness made my heart melt and I was so proud of the effort he put out. He even put it into high gear to pass one more child on the home stretch to finish in a time of 13:54. It will be a day I never will forget.
Post race, we kept up with our tradition of post game doughnuts and chocolate (Wyatt) and strawberry (Sam) milk.
Here the boys are with their buddy, Kevin.
